Sending Comment Notification Emails via SMTP

Preface

It was mainly the infamous SendCloud that froze my account and also removed the sending service. What to do? I had no choice but to look for a new path. After some thought, I decided to use QQ Enterprise Mail to send emails. And it's free, isn't that wonderful? Besides, most visitors use QQ Mail, right!

This time we'll still use Kangkang's plugin. Perhaps because SendCloud went down, Kangkang's plugin was updated and now supports sending via SMTP and Alibaba Cloud Mail. Hehe.

Registering an Administrator Account

First, register for QQ Enterprise Mail Free Edition!!!!

Be sure not to register the trial edition; choose the free edition. I already stepped in this pitfall for you.

When filling in the administrator account username, it is not your QQ number or anything like that. Also, the administrator account must be bound to WeChat...

After registration is complete, add your domain. If you use CloudXNS, just click the button to add Tencent Enterprise Mail directly. Very convenient!

If you don't use CloudXNS, add the following MX records.

First, the TXT record is used to prevent spam, and adding it is optional. However, the two MX records below must be added, otherwise you won't be able to send emails! Once this step is done, you can start using it.

Configuring Users

After completing the Step above, click to add a member.

After setting it up as required, log in. It's recommended to bind WeChat as well.

Click Settings - Client Settings. Since we chose SMTP for sending, make a note of the SMTP address and port provided by the mailbox; we'll need them shortly.

Configuring Email Sending

Download the LoveKKComment plugin. The author is: 爱喝茶的康康

It comes from GitHub, so there's no need to worry about backdoors being planted in the code. Safe and reliable!

Installation Method

1. Extract the downloaded archive and upload it to the Typecho plugin directory;

2. Activate the plugin in the admin panel;

3. Choose the email sending interface method according to your actual situation;

4. Configure the corresponding interface parameters according to the selected email sending interface.

Custom Templates

The plugin includes three templates, stored in the plugin's theme directory, as follows:

approved.html: email template for notifying that a comment has been approved.

author.html: template for notifying the author of a post about a new comment.

reply.html: template for notifying the recipient of a reply that their comment has been replied to.

The three templates use variables as content placeholders. You only need to add the corresponding template variables to your own template. The list of template variables is as follows:
